Housekeepers

Often if a household has only one member of staff it will be a housekeeper.

Dedication, loyalty and competence combined with common sense are all essential attributes in a good housekeeper.

A housekeeper can be employed as a live in or live out (daily), on a temporary or permanent basis, either working on a full time or part time basis.

Duties and responsibilities may include, but not limited to the following:

• Keep all rooms vacuumed, dusted, clean and tidy at all times
• Maintain the Families Laundry, Ironing and Dry Cleaning
• Care of fine china, Silver and crystal
• Change all Bed Linen, Towels etc
• Feed and Walk the dog daily
• Shop as requested or put away weekly groceries when delivered
• Cook Nutritional Family Meals
• Assist with preparation for dinner parties
• Flower arrangement
• Dealing with contractors
• Taking messages
• Running Daily Errands

You may require a combination of tasks from one person. We have the candidates available.

Examples of this follow:

• Housekeeper/Nanny
In conjunction with keeping the house organised, the housekeeper can be available to step in and help with small children on nannies day off or when a full time Mum needs a break. They also work well in a household with older children to do the school run and provide an extra pair of hands at the end of the day.

• Housekeeper/Cook
We have many housekeepers who have high cooking standards who in addition to the usual housekeeping duties can provide nutritional, healthy family food, catering to all tastes including special diets as well as providing for functions and parties in the home.

• Housekeeping Couples
The couple are required to run and manage the household on a day-to-day basis, often liaising and co-coordinating with other household staff . Between them they will undertake meticulous housekeeping, including laundry, cooking daily family meals and the occasional dinner parties. Have experience in the care of fine fabrics, antiques, silver and china. The gentleman will be required to drive the employers on occasion to functions and airports, drive the employer to work, undertake the school runs and take care for the cars. He will have good handyman / DIY skills along with excellent gardening skills and knowledge of garden machinery. The couple will undertake security of the residence.

We expect our couples to have excellent communication and people skills. They must be flexible, have good stamina, and understand changing time-tables. Must show initiative and be able to anticipate the needs of the employer, and have great style in managing a house. It’s essential they are child friendly and be willing to look after pets. It always helps to have a good sense of humour & positive personality along with fluent spoken English. First class references are always required.

Couples will require a separate self-contained accommodation and often there is a car provided to use on/off duty. Their working hours and days off are typically the same as each other.

Working Hours:
Live in: 10-12 hour days (with relevant breaks) – 5 and 5½ days a week.
Daily (only in London): 8-10 hours a day 5 days a week.

It is expected that the candidate will take their own time during the day to compensate for the long working day but must be available for “emergency” calls.

Candidates are fully aware flexibility is required from time to time regarding working hours. However, the candidate will work according to the requirements of the position. They are flexible with their days off to suit each clients needs.

We take into consideration location, working hours and the level of experience of individual candidates and their qualifications. Weekly salaries are quoted Nett of tax but clients are required to pay all tax and national insurance contributions.
