Butlers

A Butler is often in uniform and primarily charged with managing the household staff, reception of guests, serving of refreshments and meals, maintaining the fine silver and china, the valet of the employers clothing and various other duties. The Butler reflects a formal image. Generally duties would not include cooking and cleaning duties other than as trainer or fill in.

Caretakers / Couples
Person employed to take charge of property in the owner’s absence, general security & maintenance of the house . Female required to housekeep. Also used in a commercial role for large properties, country estates & castles in Scotland.

Chauffeurs
A Driver or Chauffeur is typically responsible for all aspects of driving the client and family to and from daily activities and events. They are always professional and friendly and have superb social etiquette. The Driver also handles all care, operation and maintenance of the client’s vehicles. A driver may have formal training as a chauffeur and usually has prior experience as a professional Driver

Estate Managers / House Managers
A Household Manager ensures the smooth and orderly running of a household. Primarily a chief administrator, the estate manager assumes a leadership role for managing the staff and services for one or more homes. This may include interviewing and supervising all contractors, attending to the proper care of automobiles, wine cellar and other functions and managing accounts. Household managers possess previous household management, or related, experience, and select candidates are professionally certified.

Gardeners
Role varies depending on type and size of the garden but can range from simply mowing the lawn and maintaining the garden to a fully qualified horticulturist who can plan and create gardens from scratch and create and maintain formal gardens. Able to maintain and operate the usual outdoor machinery and tools.

Maternity Nurses
Maternity Nurses are qualified & trained Nurses, Midwives, Nursery Nurses who specialise in the care of new born babies. A Maternity Nurse helps the Mother from the time she leaves hospital until she and her baby are settled into a routine at home; this normally lasts between four to eight weeks. They work 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. They are able to advise on all aspects of baby care including routines, feeding, bathing and sleep!
Maternity Nurses can live in with the family or live out. They can either provide 24 hours cover, or day or night cover dependant of your specific needs.

Personal Assistants
A PA is responsible for keeping up with the social and professional demands of an employer. Duties may include keeping track of the family agenda, arranging for reservations of various events, travel bookings, event planning, and some secretarial responsibilities, shopping and running errands.

Tutor – Governess/ Governor
These candidates would normally expect to work with children for whom English is not the first language. They will be responsible for overseeing the children in just about every aspect of their lives – from helping with schoolwork to organising play dates to shopping for a child’s clothes and tutor them as necessary (this would normally be in English language), teach them life skills such as etiquette and cultural appreciation for example.

This position usually requires a person with a teaching background and/or Nanny experience. The position functions as an educator and is not typically charged with domestic work or physical care of children.

House Sitters & Dog Sitters
A Dog Walker or Dog Sitter is responsible to care for your dog while you’re at work & holiday. Taking your dog for a long walk, healthy run or daily pet sitting visits to your home to check on your pets while you’re on holiday or out of town on business trips.
